The last day:(

This morning we had a reflection session in the classroom. We all got a piece of paper to express our experience on. Next, we were told to chat with someone we think had a totally different experience from ourselves. I talked to Rod and Kalina. I asked Kalina if she feels she has connected with her Italian roots, and I told her I can tell she’s Italian because she didn’t get a sunburn once. We gave some feedback about the field school – things we loved, things we didn’t love, and things that gave us an “itch” (things we want to learn more about). For me, the itch was slow tourism.

After the debrief, Kaitlin, Nathan, Jackson, and I went into town to grab some pizza at a different place from before. We ran into Kalina at lunch. I ordered bruschetta, and I shared a Margherita pizza with Jackson. It wasn’t as good as the other pizzeria we went to, but it was still nice. After lunch I spent some time relaxing and planning some activities for our last day in Rome, and then I went over to the Farmhouse where some of the others were having a bit of a party.
Shortly after, we all went to the grape driers for Yogalates (yoga & pilates). I thought this was so much fun! I was disappointed to discover that some of the exercises I would do daily when I was doing competitive dance are much harder than they used to be. Maybe I should do more yogalates.

We all went to cool off and shower and then headed to the Enoteca for our last dinner together. At dinner, we all told Caterina our highlights from the course, as she wasn’t present for the debrief in the morning. I told her about how much I loved the trekking. My other highlight was sharing meals with everyone at the Enoteca. We also presented Caterina, Elisa, and Virginia with maple syrup as a thank you. For dinner there was bruschetta, potatoes, salad, and chicken. And more wine as always. After we ate, we all chatted for a while, thanked our hosts for their hospitality, and took a bunch of photos.

I am so sad to be leaving this beautiful place and the amazing people I got to connect with. Who knew I could be this happy.
After dinner I hung out at the farmhouse for a bit while some of the others went back to Jack’s bar. I went out briefly before going to bed and was surprised to see Elisa still out at 1 am!

I will really miss this view from my balcony.
