This morning I stopped to grab some more focaccia with onion and then we headed to the train station. We took an early train to make it to Florence in time for our 10:30 time slot for the Uffizi gallery. We should have had more than enough time, but the train stopped at the Empoli station for 58 minutes due to train traffic system failure or something. I was very stressed out. Just after 11:00 am we made it to the S.M. Novella station and walked to the gallery, where we had to wait in line for a while to go in.
Unfortunately, it was extremely busy and hot inside the gallery. I was feeling quite claustrophobic and overwhelmed so Kaitlin and I rushed through, but I made sure to check out the Da Vinci room & the painting “the Birth of Venus.”

The Uffizi Gallery was seriously impressive, and I wish I had been able to appreciate it more. I hope to visit again, either in the off season or the evening to avoid the crowds. After we got out of the gallery, Kaitlin and I went separate ways. I found some of the others and we went for gelato. I think I had mango flavour, it was very tasty. We then headed to the bus stop, and ended up on the same bus with everyone else up to Montespertoli. I had a nap on the ride up.
Once we arrived, everyone decided to have a “chill” evening, as we were all tired from our adventures over the free weekend. I made some Tagliatelle with a tomato and basil sauce for dinner for myself, Jackson, and Kaitlin. After dinner, we hung out & our apartment for a while and drank some wine, then the three of us went into town to get gelato, again. This time, I had pistachio.
